Perseverance Rover’s Descent and Touchdown on Mars (Official NASA Video)

NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance mission captured thrilling footage of its rover landing in Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, 2021. The real footage in this video was captured by several cameras that are part of the rover's entry, descent, and landing suite. The views include a camera looking down from the spacecraft's descent stage (a kind of rocket-powered jet pack that helps fly the rover to its landing site), a camera on the rover looking up at the descent stage, a camera on the top of the aeroshell (a capsule protecting the rover) looking up at that parachute, and a camera on the bottom of the rover looking down at the Martian surface.

The audio embedded in the video comes from the mission control call-outs during entry, descent, and landing.

How dope, our first look at an unseen planet! *Meanwhile* Aliens with advanced technology have been watching earth like this for hundreds of years... We only just now see this, and with aliens being supposedly so much farther ahead in technology, dont pretend they havent scouted Earth like we just scouted Mars.. Aliens watching this like.. "How cute"

Why is the jerkiness in the video so REGULAR? Is this because you didn't seed your random numbers generator correctly while rendering this pathetic animation? NASA, try harder next time. Dropping a box out of a helicopter in Atacama desert then doing some editing (hence the regular nature of the jerkiness in the video). Once caught lying about 'moon landings' no one is going to believe you about 'Mars' either.

Hello 👋 to anyone reading this. I just want to share the good news of Jesus Christ with you. All people in the world have sinned and should be punished for it but God loved us so much he sent His son Jesus to die in our place so we won’t have to. Jesus is our ticket to heaven. Jesus paid the price for us so that those who believe in Him won’t die but will be guaranteed a place in heaven. He is coming back soon to take his believers there I pray you’ll be one of them.Amen

This was not live streamed from Mars, by the way. The communications satellites above Mars could not handle the bandwidth necessary to stream a high quality video, and it would also be delayed by several minutes due to the distance of Mars. What you're seeing is the live stream of the landing itself that only included data/telemetry that was delayed mixed with the video recorded by the rover which was sent back to Earth over the next few days.

No. At the time of EDL the one way light travel time was 11 minutes and 22 seconds. The delay makes any real-time control impossible. The landing was completely autonomous, controlled by the rover computer. Mission Controllers had basic telemetry from the rover to monitor the EDL, but there was nothing they could do to affect the outcome.
